1980's
1983
- The colour me beautiful book, written by Carole Jackson in the USA, is launched in the UK where the European headquarters are set up.
1985
- Interest continues to grow and the colour me beautiful (cmb) concept takes off in Europe.
1986-1989
- The concept expands to cover advice on style.
- cmb trains image consultants to advise both men and women on all aspects of personal presentation.
- colour me beautiful branded cosmetics are launched.
1990's
1991
- The Complete Style Guide updates the original cmb system.
1993
- Two new titles aimed at businessmen and women are launched. Presenting Yourself - A Personal Image Guide for Men/Women.
- The cmb titles are translated in over 20 languages.
1994 - 1997
- Retail interest in the cmb concept increases with leading groups including Next, Sears, the Burton Group and Marks & Spencer hiring cmb consultants for sales training, customer promotions and colour and design input.
1998
- The Makeover Manual is launched to update the concept and approach of image consulting.
2000 - present
2000
- Peugeot asks cmb to front a 30-venue road show to attract women drivers.
- cmb and Wallis join forces for a Seasonal Update programme.
2001
- WH Smith launches a range of cmb consultations for
mother's day.
2002
- A promotion in the Daily Mail brings in over 20,000 enquiries.
- cmb is the most successful redemption programme at Tesco Clubcard, accounting for 10.2% of all redemptions.
- EMAP/Drapers Record ask cmb to participate in the re-launch of their main trade exhibition Premier Womenswear/Pure.
- cmb consultants take part in nationwide promotions run by The Times.
- cmb launches its bridal programme.
2003
- Boots sells cmb consultations as part of their gift
experience programme. - Men account for 20% of cmb business (up from only
5% in 1997). - cmb corporate is launched. Clients such as AstraZeneca, Barclays Bank, BUPA, Swiss Reinsurance use the services to ensure their staff project the right image.
2004
- cmb cosmetic range is re-branded and re-launched.
- cmb is invited to be a "visitors' attraction" at the 1st Autumn Ideal Home Show in October 2004. They have since been retained to do so at the Spring and Autumn Ideal Home Shows at both Earls Court and Glasgow in 2005.
2005
- www.cmb.co.uk receives over 500 hits a day.
- Guerlain staff are trained in the art of colour consulting for their "Kiss-Kiss" lipstick launch.
- cmb is invited to the Country Living Fair in Edinburgh and to be the main visitors' attraction at the Optrafair trade show in Birmingham.
- The Mall at Cribbs Causeway invite cmb to launch their Autumn Fashion Week promotion.
2006
- Colour Me Confident, published by Hamlyn, to be launched in January 2006.
2007
- Image Matters for Men, published by Hamlyn to be launched in February 2007.
